Stoneleigh Park became the first Warwickshire venue to offer exhibitors and visitors wireless internet access in its exhibition halls on 22 September, when a new, high capacity broadband feed went live at the venue.
The Stoneleigh Park ‘hot zone’ is the second conference and exhibition centre in the West Midlands region, and the first in Warwickshire, to be registered in the Wi-Fi Zone directory - responding to clients demands for wireless broadband access at conferences and exhibitions.
With the new high capacity feed, installed by PSINet Europe with an initial capability of 10MB, and the wireless network installed by West Midlands firm Daconi, visitors will enjoy wireless access throughout Exhibition halls 1 and 2, the Strollers restaurant and Stoneleigh Park Lodge hotel .
Stoneleigh’s IT Manager, Stewart Page, said exhibitors and visitors can look forward to using wireless-enabled equipment, including laptops, at events with the simple purchase of an access voucher.
He said, “Our clients will be able to get faster access at a much lower cost than with ADSL.”
“People who previously might have found it difficult to get away from the office to visit a conference or exhibition can now come to Stoneleigh and use the fast broadband access here to stay in touch.”
Looking to the future, the installation of wireless broadband is another landmark in the planned development of Stoneleigh Park into an international destination for rural business and innovation.
