27 JUL 2005 STONELEIGH PARK STRENGTHENS TEAM WITH LAND

Stoneleigh Park Limited today takes another step towards its goal to redevelop part of its aeo award-winning venue Stoneleigh Park into a cutting edge 25,000 sqm conference and events facility, with a high-profile appointment.

Trevor Land takes over today as Chairman of the conference and event venue. The ex-NEC director has been with Stoneleigh Park as a non-executive director since 2003 when he retired from the Birmingham event destination after 21 years and chose to join the a venue as his first non-executive appointment.

Land said: “I am looking forward to using my skills and experience in delivering the very best to Stoneleigh Park’s clients, both now and during the venue’s future development. It’s a unique up-and-coming venue, set to grow into over the next few years into a major destination for conferences and events.”

Stoneleigh Park’s managing director David Storrar said the appointment was part of the commitment to develop the centre, and added: “Trevor Land’s broad experience in the exhibitions industry will benefit our current service and will increase preparedness in the run up to the site’s proposed development.”

Under the plans, Stoneleigh Park will be adding a brand new conference centre, interlinked with two new halls and the existing Hall 2. The upgraded capacity is expected to be approximately 25,000 sqm, enabling existing events to expand and major new ones to be staged.

Upgraded catering and hotel facilities are also part of the plans; and Stoneleigh Park has produced proposals to improve access and parking with the addition of a link road direct from the nearby A46 Warwick to Coventry road to the site, providing a quicker link to the M40.

The project, which aims to bring the new facilities on stream between 2009 and 2012, is to be phased, ensuring no loss of capacity during the build

Stoneleigh Park already houses a comprehensive range of exhibition and conference facilities including a 58 bed hotel, 7,800 sqm purpose-built exhibition space, and conference facilities for 1,200 delegates.
